Character designs for Red Riding Hood and Little Mermaid paper doll sets.
The Red Ridinghood set is a revamp on a previous design set that I did a few years ago of a shi-shi style wolf and wolf-hunter red. And The Little Mermaid set is a new set of designs with a lionfish styled mermaid and a harpy witch. (Who better as a witch than a creature who sinks ships with his voice?)
I loved the idea of getting a single character model that you could transform into any one character in a fairytale story. Unfortunately, after doing a test run for these during Katsucon they were too small and the paper too thin.
I plan to do another test run for these in cardstock, but my friend Kat made the awesome suggestion that I make them magnetic so that you can switch the outfits on and off with ease, which is something I’m seriously considering as well.
Would anyone be interested if paper dolls were commission-able?
Writer’s Envy
I need to polish my artwork, but I want to read and write more… (I mean, I can’t really afford the time spent when I have more pressing things to deal with, but especially when I have so much going on….) I can really appreciate how a story can take you somewhere new for a little while, and introduce you to people you can care about or who even understand what you’re going through. Its such a simple thing but sometimes I’m floored by how powerful that actually is.
I wish I could move people that way.
I hope when I get back to finishing up my 12 Princess comic it helps inspire me to just go ahead and do something deep and moving.
Note to Self
I’ve been aware for a while that I’ve been in this awkward place of making a lot of fanart lately since starting the Tales stuff. And I’ve been quite aware of that actually. It has pretty much consumed my online doodles with the exception of working on my website, my recent paper dolls, and some brief pages for the Twelve Dancing Princesses comic. (That sounds like a lot but that’s been over the span of how long…?)
I don’t regret my series of redesigns at all since its been nice to work on a series of art pieces and have a consistent project going on in my spare time. It’s also been great practice for me. But does anyone else feel odd when not working on their own art?
Once I’ve caught up on commissions I’d really like to get back into making some more original pieces to show. Redesigning is fun but I’d like to work on other things too.
Working on Superboy for a commission…
Why hello there shy guy, with your necktie.
Hay guys! I also came back with quite a few Tales prints left over so I’m letting you all know I’m putting the extras on sale if anyone is interested:
They’re cute [8.5 x 5.5] glossy prints and mail in [6 x 9] envelopes. ((This includes Tales of the Abyss if you’d like to try buying a wildcard!))
I’m thinking of setting up a mini-shop, but in the meantime just send me a note/ask for details. c:
Paper dolls, Tales prints, and commissions. Oh my.
Well Katsucon was sort of a bust, but I did have a lot of fun and some fun stuff to show for it. I’d like to make a post about the fairytale paper dolls and go further into their designs but in due time. They came out too small, sadly, but hay! They still look pretty awesome.
Edit: Oh yeah. And Sailor Chichi. Because that’s how I waste time doodling at Artist Alley.
MAY or may not be [finally] working on fairytale paper dolls for Katsucon next weekend. OR definitely. Probably definitely.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Aw, I’m flattered. And slightly embarassed. But mostly just glad this was found amusing xD! If it has served to amused I consider myself accomplished~
