Also, here are some over-due previews of the past thumbnails I’ve done in preparation for the columbia charity painting:
The theme is earthly destruction, and I wanted to avoid the most obvious tropes which would be “mother earth” godesses or epic drawings of fantasy destruction or… I dunno an actual globe earth. So I came up with something less literal and that also so blatantly catastrophic. (Because as Zan said best, it’s sort of counter-productive to just be like: “Here, Columbia! have some more reminders of your tragedy!”)
So what I decided to do was make a piece with a person shattering tiles and using the shattered pieces to build something beautiful. I still aspire to an earthly feel to it, so I’ll probably feature some elements invading, but I wanted to not be so obviously nature. Somehow this branched into more than one figure which is what the piece evolved into.
Above are the narrowed-down thumbnails (coloured for clarity)
And below is the image I went with after merged thumbnails. I intended to show more background which is best achieved by a wider layout. And the trio just really sticks out with me in general with the builder, breaker, and gatherer.

I will probably post part of the painting online when it’s done, however you will have to purchase a book if you would like to see the full image. c: (details here! order now for a discount!) Mine here will be a traditional painting editted in photoshop, however there will be many different artists in the book!
