Comic pages. I’m really not as far along as I’d hoped to be.
I’m pretty sure that’s standard though.
This is the first comic I’ve done in quite a while. Years. So it’s been fun to get back into this type of thing. I’m pressed to get this done before the 30th for the Ladies’ Comic Anthology, however Whether it makes deadline or not, it will be a part of a smaller publication I’m planning with a few friends of mine.
I was holding off on posting these since I wanted to post something finished first, but I think this is far enough along that I want to post some information about it. This here’s a fanart project I’ve been working on:
A friend of mine (who will also be sketching) showed me an image of Colette (Tales of Symphonia) as Lloyd and we were discussing how lead heroines would be cooler if they got to wear the neat clothing the heroes do. Even the lameo girls would be cool~ Thus started my ambitious project!
As you can see above, I’m trying to make each hero’s design recognizable while incorperating the heroine’s own outfit (with a modern flare).
I plan to create 15 female designs, and then between 5 and 8 males (they’re obviously harder to costume swap). After this I’ll consider doing the rest of the Tales world of characters. It’d be great to do everybody. But obviously the options are many and this is a huge undertaking. For this reason there is also the possibility of recruiting a few artists so every character cam be covered and making an anthology artbook around this idea. c: We’ll see! Right now I’m just focused on own my project in this.
But hay! Keep a look out! Once I’m far enough along I will be selling prints of these for those who are interested. For sure, there will be prints at Otakon (July) whether it’s at a table or in the gallery. I have all intentions for these to be digital pieces, but there’s a good chance the piece going into Otakon’s gallery will be a limited edition print that’ll be partly handpainted like the print I attempted for Katsucon. (see picture 3)
But there it is ladies and gents.
I will keep you posted!
This is all you guys get sadly, which is more than I have posted on dA. So think of it as a bonus c:
These are progress pictures of my entry for GAIA: Vim Naturae, a project held by 60 deviantArtists come together to make an illustrated book with 100% proceeds toward Colombia’s floods, landslides, and rain damage. (And you thought the puny hurricane was bad. This has been going on for some time and is/was pretty disastrous.)
If you have money to spare, please consider donating toward the book or if it’s too much, just toward the Colombia in general (info of which can be found in the links above).
As for the book itself, info can be found here. The artbook will have around 70 full colored pages. The price of each one (in preorders)- $25 USD (excludes shipping and Paypal fee) If you are interested please order now as I did contend the price down for preorders, but they intend to raise it quite a bit when preorders are finished. IN A WEEK! PRE-ORDERS WILL BE RECEIVED UNTIL SEPT. 10th All of the pieces are about man, nature, and creation ranging from mellow to epic.
My piece, Crack Collect Create is about making something beautiful out of something else. (except in my own odd flare) I am considering entering this painting in a contest or possibly showing it at an opening, but in both cases I will be advertising the book as well.
Version one done for now. I still feel like there’s something more convincing I can do with the cloud background and I’m still considering how/if to go about shading. I’m sorta starting to get addicted to flat colour though so we’ll see.
Progress from my Saturday-night livestream working on the linework for my firefly-lady.
Also, started this afterwards of my OC, Seido, as a gift for his hubby’s birthday. (I’ll work out the anatomy a little better when I get around to colouring this) I was told it was a little uncharacteristic of him to be so coquettish, but then again, it’s just as unlikely he’d expose his back under most circumstances. Old habits die hard.
And now for something sexy :0
Making a replica scarf after the hair painting! If I do decide to sell these I’ll probably make a small handful of these handmade and then a number of them digitally printed for the sake of quick production.
Anyone know much about Retayne fixative when it comes to fabrics? I want to make sure the dye job on this one stays on. Really need to learn to just screen print and make things less complex.
ON TO PAINTING ANTENNAE.
So keeping in mind Zan’s comment about the bodies being pretty androgynous or straight up feminine I decided to pick a more masculine figure for the fourth in my series:
This is all of them so far. Still working on the detail, and cleaning up the cincher’s lines for printing. Some of these are older images in the process of things.
There’s still the chance I may do a new rendition of the helmeted painting as well for my final presentation, but we’ll see yet. So far, the favoured pieces are the leggings and scarf.
